Parenting: Respond, Don’t React

Learn to respond to children rather than react to children. Because when we react, we react emotionally and our emotions. Emotions are not a great key for living. You have to settle back and you have to look at things from behind that person’s eyes. Now the authoritarian parent is, “Hey, what’s wrong with you?” I mean, there’s a tone of anger. It just precipitates a boil over of some kind. Think rationally, calm down, learn to remove your sails from your child’s wind in hopes of bringing peace and harmony to the North American family.
